NERJA CAVES

Nerja caves are situated a short bus or car journey towards the Maro end of Nerja town. This comparatively recently discovered cave complex is continually being explored and extended and attracts many visitors every year. The site boasts a spacious international bar/restaurant and a souvenir shop. During the summer months the enormous main cavern is transformed into a concert hall where international artists come to perform in its acoustically unique environment.

 ROMAN AQUEDUCT

This magnificent aqueduct (currently undergoing protective maintenance work) is located quite close to the caves so don’t miss an opportunity to see this awe inspiring working Roman brick construction. There is a parking area  just past the aqueduct or you may turn into Capistrano Oasis for a closer inspection.

NERJA MARKET

Spanish markets are always worth a visit and Nerja’s busy town market takes place close to the urbanisation of Almijara II and is an easy walk or bus ride from the centre of Nerja. It’s many stalls sell everything from silver jewellery to saucepans and it is a popular event for both locals and visitors. The Sunday market is hosts a flea market with clothing, household items, pottery, and plants.

GRANADA

The sophisticated and cultured city of Granada simply cannot be missed. The buildings and grounds which incorporate the Alhambra Palace transport one back to the Arabic origins of this famous city and the exquisitely detailed décor and gardens are a visual delight. Wander around the Albaicin, the Arabic quarter and breathe in the scents and sounds of this colourful and very fragrant area. Whether shopping or sightseeing, Granada has something for everyone.

FRIGILIANA

The mountain village of Frigiliana is a short bus or car ride from Nerja. It’s steeply sloping streets are lined with breathtakingly pretty, flower laden whitewashed houses and its hard working, green fingers residents ensure that it frequently wins the coveted and prestigious title of “Most BeautifulSpanish Village”. You can explore the countless small winding streets which conceal its many interesting bars, shops and international restaurants or just sit and enjoy the view from the central plaza with a glass of rioja wine.
